When you own a haunted locaton October is a crazy month. Everyone wants to look for ghosts in October. Add in being a wedding venue and it is every crazier. October is one of the busiest months for weddings because brides love having fall wedding pictures. Cambre is beautiful in the fall and I can understand completely why you want those wedding pictures. What this means for Cambre is that October of 2025 is now booked, unless you are willing to book a weekday. I just updated the Cambre events page so the schedule for the rest of 2024 and 2025 is online. If you are looking for a date, check that out first.
My most exciting news currently is that I finally got the electrical upgrade done at Cambre. The service has been upgraded so hopefully we won’t be tripping breakers any more. Plus, all the power lines are underground. There are no strings on me! (Bonus points if you know that quote!) I feel like we have returned the house to simplier times by removing the power lines. The added bonus is a lot less worry about downed limbs or trees taking out the power. This was always a big worry of mine, especially during the winter months when losing the power meant potential burst pipes. There is now power in the barn as well, so no more power cords strung everywhere trying to get lights in the barn. So very exciting changes that are very needed.
Ghost tours this year were amazing. There were some incredible spirit interactions and great tour groups. I really enjoy being able to help people have their first ghost hunting experience. This year we had Melanie, Ken, and April helping us with tours. With out their experience and equipment I wouldn’t be able to do the tours. Next year is looking a little different. I have October fully booked so I will not be able to do the weekend tours like we have in the past. Currently, I am looking at doing week night tours with just one group at a time. Look for more details on that as we get closer to next October and I get more involved in planning.
Ghost crawl weekends are getting closer and I have two amazing weekends planned! Aaron G. Thompson from Netflix’s 28 Days Haunted will be on hand to help us explore some neat locations. First up in November is the Flood Museum. The museum started as the funeral home in Nauvoo and now is a museum that talks about Noah’s flood from the bible. Its an interesting location and we will be the first to investigate it! Then we will head down the street to the Red Front which for many years was a tavern and is now a popular restaurant. We have done this spot for a few years and it is a favorite. We will finish Friday evening at the Tomb of Joseph which has been a favorite since we started doing our ghost crawls. Saturday we will be at the Inn at Old Nauvoo with the master key to explore the entire hotel. Which rooms are the most haunted? We will find out! December will find us starting at Nauvoo Emporium Quilts exploring all three levels, including the basement, of this historic building in the heart of Nauvoo. We will finish the night in the Tomb of Joseph. Saturday we will again be at the Inn at Old Nauvoo. Why do we keep going back to the Inn? It’s an 84 room hotel with so many places to investigate with a wide variety of activity and reports of activity that make it a fun and unique spot.
Ghosts are not just active in October, so I hope to see you sometime next year at some fun spooky event.
